The Dolly Fairytale: What"s Next? Chapter 4

Her hair palace was energetic and flourishing. The next ad campaign took a twist and with the help of www.janellezeller.com, they created a series of shots depicting scenes from the pin-up era. These playful ads were adored by all and represented what the dollies were all about.
To characterize each Dolly individually, new vibrant head shots were created. Shifting past portraits from black and white to bright colors.
2009 and 2010 were monumental years for Michelle and Dollyrockers. One afternoon a breathtaking phone call was answered. Elle magazine was choosing Dollyrockers as one of the Top 100 Salons in the U.S. It was such an honor to be chosen to represent Arizona.
Elle magazine chose Dollyrockers in 2010 again for the second year in a row. All of this national recognition was astonishing in such a short time. In just five years, one girl and her dedicated crew, had achieved what many spend a lifetime hoping for. Just when they thought things couldn't get better InStyle magazine called to feature Dollyrockers in their 2010 Beauty Blackbook.
The past two years had been so magical and as they came to an end she knew all this success meant something. Her work was not done and being featured in three high fashion magazines paved the way for so much more. What would be next in 2011?

The Dolly Fairytale Chapter 3: Small Town Sensation Gets National Recognition

As business grew and one by one they brought a little Dolly and a little Rocker out of everyone, Michelle knew they were on to something good. The image she was building must be branded and always current. With the help of fashion photographer Nathan Woodruff, they created a high glam ad. Each stylist would have an individual picture on their business card, making a strong impression from the start.

This was so successful that the Dollies continued to reinvent their look every year. Each time recreating a new look and ad campaign. Each Dolly would be given a memorable way to promote themselves through stunning business cards and portraits displayed above each station.

In August of 2008 a magical thing happened.....a small town sensation got national recognition. Michelle and Dollyrockers got mentioned for contributing a beauty tip in Cosmopolitan magazine. This was a huge accomplishment very few get the chance to have.

She never imagined in such a short time to have traveled so far on this journey she always dreamt of. What would be next?

The Dolly Fairytale: A Hair Palace Is Created, Chapter 2

A hair palace is created

As her dreams transformed into reality, her next step was to attract people from this far away land of Anthem. She must gain their trust and bring them into the castle she created. With the help of www.imagesaz.com she was featured on the cover of the magazine that reached all of North Phoenix.
She devised an add campaign that would grab the towns attention. Her staff would be introduced to the people in an unconventional way that would create a buzz and a little intrigue. The first Dollyrockers photo shoot by www.joshuamitchellphotography.com would lay the foundation of the glamourous ads they became known for.

Their work was far from being done. In order to win over the hearts of the townspeople they had to prove they would deliver what they promised. Their head Dolly Michelle, knew the importance of making a lasting impression on everyone they encountered. Day and night they plotted on how to stand out from the rest. With the support of a local hang out, they put on the towns first fashion show. It was a huge success and showed the community they were there to make an impact.
Success seemed instant and all of her determination had payed off. She felt an overwhelming commitment to herself, and all of those who supported her, to never stop improving Dollyrockers.
It was just the beginning.........

The Dolly Fairytale: Dreams Chapter 1

Once upon a time there was a girl who dreamt of creating a magical place where people would come from near and far to feel a part of something great and look as beautiful on the outside as they felt on the inside. As a young damsel she felt a passion for the beauty industry and after traveling from mediocre salons to elite ones, her wishes were not fulfilled. A desire burned inside her to follow her dreams and take a risk. With the help of her fairy god mother (Diana Zeller) they worked day and night to create the funky yet glamorous image of Dollyrockers. She knew that her hair palace must be special, from the people who made hair magic to the image they portrayed. She beckoned an up and coming graphics designer www.meaghansdream.com to create a unique identity.

She daydreamed about a place that would have an eclectic lofty feel. Warm and cozy, a home away from home for her clients. She gathered helpers from all over to achieve the perfect look she devised in her mind, it had to be just right. From the vibrant colors that splashed the walls, the drapery hung from the ceiling and the non traditional use of furniture. A boutique with distinctive style would welcome you as you entered her castle.

Your Best Blowout Tricks By Jaimie Woehr

Your Best Blowout Tricks
By: Jaimie Woehr

You know how vulnerable your hair is while it is wet. Using the brush can really do some damage. So after you shampoo your hair, blot it dry with a towel and then try to detangle it with a wide tooth comb. Don't use the brush! This is the time when you can stretch the strands and weaken them to the point where they snap. When you brush your wet hair you can also cause frizzing to occur. Don't pick up the brush until your hair is somewhere between damp and dry and then use the blow dryer and a round brush until it is styled and completely dry.

Holiday Updo By Jaimie Woehr

Holiday Updo
By: Jaimie Woehr
With the holiday parties in full swing a quick and beautiful updo could be your best friend: Flip your head over towards the front. With a pick or large comb tease your roots. Tease it with small fast strokes until you feel a little nest forming at your roots. Give it a little spray using Enjoy's super hold hairspray to add a little hold. Flip your hair back and assume your standing position, brush and smooth out your hair into your desired shape. You can use a big bristle brush if you want to see more definition in your updo. Start with the back of your hair and grab a peice like you're doing a ponytail. Twist clockwise, bring up, and put your bobby pins in. Four to six usually do it and don't forget to criss cross the bobby pins if you feel you need a little support in the back of your updo. Take your top piece that's left over and twist very lightly. Once it is secured and you have the desired height you want on the top. Pin it down with 2 bobby pins. Now take each side and twist it back to secure on the top building into a pile. Fix your bangs and pull any front hair back that's been left over and secure with a bobby pin. Spray or shape your loose ends and you have an updo that just save you $60!

Getting Rid of Split Ends and Preventing Slit Ends By Tracy Baranowski

Getting Rid of Split Ends and Preventing Slit Ends
By: Tracy Baranowski

The only way to get rid of split ends is to regularly trim your hair. Here are some useful tips for preventing them from coming back. Get a trim at least every six weeks. Use a natural-bristle brush instead of metallic combs and brushes. Avoid brushing hair when it is wet and most vulnerable to split or break. Condition hair regularly and deep condition twice a month.

Protecting Hair From Blow Dryer and Flat Iron Damage By Tracy Baranowski

Protetcing Hair From Blow Dryer and Flat Iron Damage
By: Tracy Baranowski

Heat damage can cause split ends, frizzy hair, or breakage. One of the best ways to protect your hair when using a flat iron or blow dryer is to prepare your hair for the heat. After washing and conditioning your hair, use a heat protecting product such as Redken's smooth down heat glide. Also, when blow drying, choose a lower temperature and use the nozzle attachment.

Looking Perfectly Imperfect By Alecia Brown

Looking Perfectly Imperfect
By Alecia Brown

No matter the trends, the less done your hair looks, the fresher you'll look. The tight curls and structured up-do's have a tendency of looking matronly and outdated. Instead of curling your hair with a half inch curling iron, loading on the hairspray, and then leaving it just like that, try brushing out the curls. Either brush out the curls after using a curling iron or use hot rollers to give a soft bouncy look. Spirals curls are out ladies, soft, retro inspired curls are in!!! Also instead of doing a stiff up-do, try doing a messy bun. The less you do the better. If anything spend more time playing up your make-up and leave the hair slightly disheveled and low maintenance........Like they say less is more!!!!

Bang Frustration! By Tracy Baranowski

Bang Frustration!
By Tracy Baranowski

Do your bangs look fabulous when you leave the salon and not so fabulous when you do them yourself? Here are some styling tips for bangs.
  • Blow-dry your bangs toward the front of your face from roots to ends. The using a paddle brush, blow bangs side to side to smooth them out. This will eliminate any cowlicks in the middle that are hard to straighten out.
  • Another trick is to blow-dry your hair, then put a Velcro roller in the front with another one behind it. Spray with a light hairspray and leave in while you apply your make up. Take out and brush to your desired style.
