Daily Beauty Tip from Dolly Jaimie

Daily Beauty Tip
by Jaimie Woehr

Question: How can I keep my haircolor fresh in between my appointments?

Jaimie's Answer: You have two choices; you could purchase a color support conditioner that you would use about once a week in the shower to brighten your blonds or neutralize the warmth in your hair. And, your second option would be for you to make an appointment for a shine gloss treatment. We formulate for your specific needs and customize your color. These two options will help you through those last weeks before your next color service!

How to Avoid Green Hair While Swimming this Summer by Danielle

How to Avoid Green Hair While Swimming this Summer
By Danielle Molesky

Question: I know that chlorine is never great for your hair, but during the hottest months of the summer in Phoenix I find swimming unavoidable. What can I do to prevent green hair?

Danielle's Answer: It's best to wet your hair and run conditioner through your ends before heading to the pool. DO NOT rinse the conditioner out of your hair, just keep it up while swimming. The conditioner acts as a barrier from chlorine. Once you're out of the pool, rinse the conditioner out of your hair. Not only does your hair feel soft, but it also stays bright!

Client Transformation by Dolly Cheryl

This client has always been blonde and wanted to go a copper, red darker color. Since she was a little unsure of how long she would keep this look, Cheryl went with a semi permanent gloss. This will allow her to see how she likes it then decide whether she wants to go darker permanently or back to blonde. Cheryl also added some layers in her cut to give her more volume and movement, and it looks adorable!

How to Subtly Change Your Hair Color by Melissa

How to Subtly Change Your Hair Color
Beauty Tip
By Melissa Rossi

Question: I'm wanting to go darker with my natural color. I don't want it to look too dramatic, and I still want it to stay close to what my natural color is. How can I achieve this without dying all of my hair one solid color.

Melissa's Answer: When you decide to do any type of highlighting or lowlighting, think, less is more when it comes to contrast. Try to stay within three levels lighter or darker. If you're naturally dark brown, stay within your range. A pretty caramel or warm colors would work best. Black and platinum are not very pretty. Shiny, subtle dimension will never be "out of style".

You can explain this to your stylist, and they'll know what you mean. It's easy for clients to sometimes be miss understood when they come in asking to go from dark to light or vice versa. Make sure you are clear on exactly what you want (pictures always help!), and that you want to stay within three levels of your natural/current hair color. This will ensure a beautiful color that you are bound to love!

What Your Kids Flaky Hair Normally Means

What your kids flaky hair normally means
By Laura Caldarazzo

Question: I often notice that my child has white flakes at his/her roots. Is this dandruff?

Laura's Answer: Children often have a tendency not to scrub their scalp very well. They also don't always rinse their shampoo and conditioner out good enough. Make sure when they wash their hair that they scrub a little better and rise their hair for a couple of minutes so they can remove all of the shampoo and conditioner. If they don't remove all of the shampoo and conditioner from their hair it can result in build up, causing white flakes at their roots. On top of rinsing and scrubbing, try to use a clarifying shampoo, such as Enjoy Sulfate Free Shampoo with Cleanse Sensor!

How to Help Dry Hair During Pregnancy

How to Help Dry Hair During Pregnancy
By Mindee Bahr

Question: What can I do to help my hair during pregnancy? It's dry and brittle, and nothing seems to be working.

Mindee's Answer: Your bundle of joy may be bringing more problems than smiles in the early months of your pregnancy. And, unfortunately these problems tend to take a toll on our hair! If dry hair seems to be your concern please take a look at these helpful hints:

-Give yourself a good scalp massage daily to stimulate circulation, and release natural oils.
-Jojoba oil is a rich, natural oil that moisturizes and protects your strands and scalp. Try pure jojoba oil, or for a simpler fix try Bumble & Bumble Alojoba Shampoo & Conditioner. These products are rich with jojoba for light moisture that won't weigh your hair down!
