Diamond Canyon Teacher Makeover

As some of you may know, we will be raffling off a makeover with one of our lovely dollies this weekend at Diamond Canyon's Expo. In preparation for the raffle we selected a much deserving teacher and gave her a wonderful makeover. This beautiful makeover was done last night, February 23rd, by our Dolly Danielle! She colored and cut Diamond Canyon's teacher, Cindy Costello's, hair and the final product turned out just perfect. Mrs. Costello called today radiating with happiness and gratitude! Jaimie's Answer: Redken just released it's newly formulated Body Full line. In that line there is a product called the Volume Amplifier. It's lightweight and gives amazing volume. To use, spray all over wet hair before blow drying. And, for increased volume at the root, spray directly at your scalp while lifting the hair in sections. Doing this will give more of a concentrated amount of volume. This product is lightweight and gives a great amount of volume for fine hair!

Ever wonder why grocery and drugstores often times have the same hair products that your salon has? These products are most likely diverted. Learn why it's important to purchase these products from your salon by reading the following information taken from Redken's Website. "WHAT IS DIVERSION?

If you don't know the answer to this question - you're not alone. Nine out of ten consumers do not know what diversion is. But you probably have witnessed it.
Diversion is when products are sold in "unauthorized" places. For example, all genuine Redken products are sold exclusively in salons. But you might come across a few bottles in your local supermarket, drugstore, online or at a discounter. Salon professional products you find outside of a salon are considered to be "diverted."

Question: What can I do to help with my oily hair?

Jessica's Answer: Using a sulfate free clarifying shampoo always helps with the natural oils that tend to make our hair greasy. In between the days you shampoo you can also try using light baby powder on your root. When applying the baby powder take a small amount, rub into your hands and then rub on to your root. This will absorb natural oils from your locks, making your shampoos and styles lasting longer!

Question: How do I get a tousled beach wavy look?

Alecia's Answer: Before bed, while your hair is still damp, spray styling spray throughout. A styling spray we'd suggest would be from one of our favorite lines, Enjoy. After you have done this, section your hair into four sections and roll each into a bun. Go to bed, and let it dry. In the morning undo these buns. Take a big curling iron and curl random sections in a spiral motion. (Don't curl every piece!) Finish this style with Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray, and scrunch with hands!

Question: How can I get a salon worthy blow out at home?

Jaimie's Answer: Start after you take a shower. Towel dry your hair, apply Redken Guts at the root, and Enjoy Hair & Skin Treatment Oil through your ends. Turn your head upside down and power dry using your fingers at your roots to add volume. Continue to power dry until your hair is 80% dry. Section your hair into 1" sections and smooth out with a Boar Bristle Brush until the desired style is achieved!

Question: My hair is flat and heavy. I don't want a "layered" cut, but I want volume. Any Suggestions?

Danielle's Answer: Ask your stylist for a "hidden" layer. This takes out the weight, leaving you with the effect of layers without the actual look of a layered cut. By following this advice round brushing and back combing are much easier, and give you the look you want!
